The Ministry of Discernment and Governance
Presbuteros is the Greek word for elder, from which we derive the English word presbyter.  A presbyter is a word we use simply to refer to an elder; either a ruling elder (ordained lay person) or a teaching elder (ordained Minister of Word and Sacrament; commonly called a pastor).  The Session of the church is made up of ruling elders and teaching elders.
The Ruling elders of our Session are chosen by the congregation to lead alongside our teaching elder in exercising leadership, government, spiritual discernment, and discipline, after the example of Jesus Christ, and strengthening and nurturing the faith and life of our congregation. An elder is a person of faith, dedication and good judgment. Their manner of life demonstrates the Christian gospel, both within the church and the world.

The Ministry of Compassion and Service
The ministry of deacon as set forth in Scripture is one of compassion, witness, and service, sharing in the redeeming love of Jesus Christ for the poor, the hungry, the sick, the lost, the friendless, the oppressed, those burdened by unjust policies or structures, or anyone in distress.  Deacons may be individually commissioned or organized as a board of deacons. In either case, their ministry is under the supervision and authority of the session.

The session of Peace Presbyterian Church organizes its work through the use of four committees that allow the session to focus on visionary planning and organization (seeing the big picture and charting the path forward) while at the same time continuing to work to encourage, inspire, equip, and support the individuals or groups of individuals who are actively carrying out the various activities or tasks associated with our congregation’s ministry.

The committees of the Session are:

Administration

"Helping Us Be Good Stewards
of Our Resources"

Personnel
Buildings & Grounds
Finance & Stewardship

The purposes of the Administration Committee are to help us manage our resources effectively (personnel, property, and finances) and to help the congregation be good stewards of all the gifts with which God has blessed us.

 WORSHIP

"Growing in Faith
and Love for God"

Worship
Christian Education
Faith Formation

The purposes of the Worship and Christian Education Committee are to plan, organize and provide opportunities, programs,
activities and events that nurture the spiritual life of our church family, lead us to deeper faith; shape us as
disciples of Jesus Christ, and enable us to worship God.

HOSPITALITY

"Reaching Out
with God's Love"

Connection Activities
Care Ministries

The purposes of the Hospitality Committee are to plan, organize and provide opportunities, programs, activities, and events that foster and encourage growing relationships among those connected to Peace Presbyterian Church, and to enable, equip and encourage us to provide care for members of our church family, especially during the more challenging and delicate times of life.

Missions

"Joining in God's Work
in Our World"

Local Mission
Global Mission
Outreach & Evangelism

The purposes of the Missions Committee are to partner with Jesus in reaching out to others with the love and grace of God, and to bring hope and healing to broken hearts and places, working on behalf of the poor, vulnerable and needy, and responding to the social issues, problems and needs of our local community.
